The "Hyping up the prospect" technique

Mar 12, 2025

I don't even know what to call this "technique", but it's ridiculously helpful when messaging prospects.

For now, let's call it: "Hyping up the prospect"

Let me walk through how it works -

Attached is a screenshot of a message that I sent to a woman financial representative.

And pay attention to what I said at the end of the message: "You look like you're the type of person who'd kill it in the business"

Not only am I hyping her up, but I'm labeling her as a winner.

Which gives her confidence.

And this positivity & support is important because all financial representatives & advisors deal with rejection on a weekly basis (since part of their job is selling).

So, when you're dealing with rejection day after day, what makes you feel better?

Someone else hyping you up. Someone being positive, not negative.

It gets the prospect to see you as an ally instead of an enemy. And it makes them look forward to talking to you.

Which is HUGE because you can't sell to someone who is trying to find every reason not to work with you.

This is subtle, but it works. I used to do this a lot years ago and then I forgot about it (not sure how). But I'm glad I randomly remembered to start doing it again.
